Dear Sisters & Friends,
Let us start by sending Alpha Gam love to each and every one of you during this time of uncertainty and isolation.
For nearly a year, we’ve thoughtfully planned our 2020 Day of Giving. We had an amazing inaugural event last May—coordinating challenges, promoting our progress live on Facebook and hearing from so many of you—but we’ve struggled the past two weeks to figure out how to navigate such an effort in this current climate.
That’s why we’ve decided to make it a Day of Caring.
During the next 1,904 minutes, we are focused on three critical and immediate needs:
Fighting Hunger. The Foundation provides grants to organizations across North America on the front lines of fighting hunger. Right now, the Foundation has requests for more than $1,000,000 in financial support from organizations—95% of which are for direct food assistance and distribution. All gifts made today in this area will provide grant relief in April.
Sisters in Need. Each year, we receive grant applications from Alpha Gam sisters who are in critical need of food, shelter or life-saving medication. From helping sisters affected by natural disasters to domestic violence, we have already depleted our budget twice this year—and we know our sisters’ needs will grow exponentially in the days and months to come.
Spreading Kindness. Our sisterhood is our strength—and we are better together. In just two short weeks, life as we know it has been turned upside down. One thing we can be certain of, however, is that even the smallest gesture of kindness can go a long way. Whether it’s a sister who may be isolated from family and friends, a collegiate member whose senior year was suddenly cut short, a recent graduate who is worried about her future, a working mom trying to juggle everything while quarantined at home right now or everything in between—we want our sisters from all walks of life to feel loved and cared for.
Today, on this Day of Caring, we ask you to help us in one or more of these areas of need. Together—we can meet these needs head on.
Together we unite.
Together we are strong.
Together we give.
Together we care.
